George Russell took his maiden pole position for Mercedes ahead of Red Bull's Max Verstappen at the Canadian Grand Prix.
The Mercedes driver ended Red Bull's run of four consecutive pole positions and took his first since joining the team this season.
Russell's fastest lap was 1:20.521, just 0.045 seconds faster than Verstappen.
Carlos Sainz Jr. qualified third for Ferrari, while Russell's teammate Lewis Hamilton could only manage fourth.
The race will be held at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, a 4.361-kilometer (2.710-mile) street circuit in Montreal, Canada.
